Quickly . . .

I am so jazzed that Eminem won the Oscar for Best Original Song. I mean, how can any creative person not just absorb the intensity of what he’s saying:

You better lose yourself in the music, the moment.
You own it; you better never let it go.
You only get one shot; do not miss your chance to blow.
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime.

More later . . .

Okay, confession. Clay Aiken is my Singing TV Boyfriend.

I love a good movie cry!

I watched Billy Elliot again last night for . . . I’ve lost track of the number of times. It doesn’t matter how many times I watch it; I’ll never catch all of the dialogue. Whoa! Talk about an accent, a brogue, a dialect - whatever in this case it’s called.

And no matter how many times I watch it, my heart will never fail to race or a sob fail to clog up my throat. Oh, that Jackie Elliot. The man’s pain. The man’s pride. The man’s unadulterated joy. And the dance at the end! I could watch the last ten minutes repeatedly and never grow tired of sharing, experiencing that emotion.

In fact, I think I’ll go watch it again.

Music Is My Life

My daughter moved out a few months ago and my son took over her bedroom, turning it into what we call his “media room.”

In addition to his flat screen television and computer set-up – all in a very cool distressed / brushed shade of silver (and let’s don’t forget my daughter’s salt water aquarium which stayed behind when she left), he has a cinder block base that holds his three turntables and mixer, along with a three foot speaker on a stand and crates of albums. As in, vinyl albums.

Now, the reason this is so cool is that today, as I was writing in my office space which is in the next room, I got him to show me how to record on his system. So, alone in the house, I’ve spent the afternoon listening to (and recording) my past. (Right now, for example, Bruce Springsteen is telling me all about The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle.)

Technology. You gotta love it – as well as loving the fact that what goes around comes around. After “progressing” from vinyl to cassette to CD, I’m able to remember why music has always been so much a part of my life.

And now I can convert the albums into MP3 files and listen to them on my Zen Jukebox any time I want!

My Love For Action Adventure

In getting ready to launch into my upcoming action adventure series, I’m rereadinga few of my favorites.

Fever Dreams - Dragon’s Eden - Amazon Lily - Avenging Angel - The Dragon And The Dove -
River of Eden
- Montega’s Mistress - To Love A Man

I’d love to hear of others about which I’m forgetting. If you have any favorite action adventure romances, let me know here or use the comment link below.

Wow! I feel much better now!

Okay. I know nothing about John Mayer, except what I saw of him on the Grammys - where he alluded to the fact that he was 16 years old. I’m quite happy to learn that he’s 25 because I was worried after listening to the lyrics of Your Body Is A Wonderland. A 16 year old should not know of such things! Ha!

Things

As I get used to this blogging adventure, I find that I #1) don’t have all the time I wish I did to post and #2) don’t realize the difference between private email notices and notices of postings to the board. Both arrive via the same addy, and I only recently realized I’d deleted a few private notes without responding. Mea culpa in a very big way!

Also today, I visited the most awesome listserv ever put together, Romance Readers Anonymous, after a very long hiatus only to find I’d been voted as their third favorite series author for 2002. Whoo-hoo! That was fun to see.

I know I had something more to say, but I’m old and am rapidly depleting my remaining brain cells as I work toward my current deadline. So, I’ll be back . . .

Websites & Excerpts

Since I design and manage several websites in addition to my own, I’m curious about a couple of things.

Do you read excerpts? Do you prefer long ones or short ones? Do you read excerpts from books that may be out of print and only available through a used book service? How far in advance of a books release do you want to read an excerpt?

Drop me a note or use the comment link right below. Thanks so much for your feedback!
