Today’s public service announcements . . .

A couple of PSA’s today. For those of you who are into reading challenges, I ran across this one recently where prizes are involved! I am seriously considering jumping on.

Secondly, I’m sure a lot of you who write are familiar with the Brava Novella Contest. Well, Red Sage is running a similar one - but with one BIG difference. The winner is guaranteed a publishing deal. Larissa has the info at her site. Check it out!

Also, if you haven’t been to eHarlequin’s boards in awhile, you’re missing out on a huge change. Lori Borrill told me about it last week, so I had to go set up my blog. Yes, eHQ is now a total social networking site, and seriously too much fun!

On a TV note, if you’re wondering when the last pre-WGA Strike episodes of your favorite shows will air, or when new shows will be premiering, TV Squad has the info.

Today’s a family day around Alison Central. With the husband’s birthday on the 2nd, and #1 daughter’s on the 8th (with Elvis), and extended family birthdays here and there, we’re finally doing our celebratory get-together. The husband is throwing a couple of pork tenderloins and chickens on the smoker, and will add shrimp later for #1. I’ll be doing a pan of au gratin potatoes and whatever else I decide on by then. #1 is actually picking up her own cake after the failure that was the one I made originally . . .

You see, when I posted about #1 daughter’s birthday last week, I forgot to mention that should you ever decided to make Pioneer Woman’s Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever (and you should decide to, because really, it is) do NOT sour your own milk with lemon juice or vinegar. Be sure to have true buttermilk on hand. The oftentimes workable shortcut does not work in this case AT all. Trust me. Blech. What a waste of all that butter and cocoa . . . though I will admit to scraping off the icing and snacking on that when walking through the kitchen. (Have you seen the Subway commercial where the accountant tells his co-worker he needs a lunch receipt missing from his expense report, and the co-worker asks if it would be okay for him to just photocopy his butt? Same principle at work here.)

And then there is the bad news . . .

Thanks for all the “PSA’s” - and Happy birthday to all the birthday people! As to Scrabulous… that makes me sad - but if it does get taken off facebook for sure :-X I’m glad I never got started and therefore addicted.
