Word count and tracking spreadsheet

I know everyone has been dying to know how many words I wrote last Thursday while Sam was here. Not that you really want to know the tally as much as who won the Amazon GC, LOL, but the answer is FORTY. Yes, I wrote FORTY words that day, meaning the winner is: Elaine R who said “under a hundred words.” So, yes. I deserve forty licks for only getting done forty words. I’m sure if I had a little one underfoot on a regular basis, I’d do more. Or at least be more disciplined about the whole thing. But sometimes ya just gotta play.

I got back to work yesterday, and wrote 1165 words out of my needed 1850. I’m using Kresley Cole’s Word Tracker spreadsheet and it’s teh awesome. Tells me exactly where I am and what I have to do, and yells at me when I’m behind. Since I was up this morning at five for a household emergency (note to self: don’t flush dead goldfish when they’re eight inches long), I got started early. Hopefully I’ll get today’s words done and enough to make up for yesterday’s shortage before American Idol.

I’m rooting for Lilly Scott, Lee Dewyze, and Andrew Garcia.

    Congrats Elaine!
Our goldfish are about 5 inches long… but we have had them grow bigger in the past. Our largest fish right now is a pleco and he is a monster… I would say he is about 10 -11 inches long… definitely no flushing him…

I’ve often wondered how many words a day authors have to write to hone their craft. Obviously 40 is not enough? lol

Forty is okay if you’ve got all the time in the world to work on your project! But not if you need it done by a certain date and doing 40 won’t get you there.

I may blot on this tomorrow!

It’s an Excel spreadsheet where you plug in your number of words written to figure out how many words a day you need to meet your deadline.

IF I wrote a thousand words plus, which I reckon I could, they would be rubbish. I am terribly impressed.

Well, think of it as speaking a story, but writing down the words instead!
