Some reader stuff, Some writer stuff

I found out yesterday that Kindle editions of my gIRL-gEAR series (from 2002, 2003 & 2004) are being released January 18. I linked below to the books’ pages where you can read excerpts, and then to the Kindle pages if you’re so inclined to buy.

All Tied UpKindle Edition
No Strings AttachedKindle Edition
Bound To HappenKindle Edition
StripteaseKindle Edition
Wicked GamesKindle Edition
IndiscreetKindle Edition

That was the reader part. Here’s the writer part. I’ve had these three binders of cassette tapes from the 2002 and 2003 RWA national conferences sitting on my desk for ages to give away. One binder has the full dozen, one has 11 tapes, one has 10.

Yes, they’re cassettes so you’ll need a player, and yes, I’ve listened to most of them, and no, I’m not going to list all the workshops in each, though I will tell you there are workshops, GOOD workshops by Suzanne Brockmann, Jane Porter, Jennifer Crusie, Anne Stuart, Debbie Macomber, Barbara Samuel, etc. I’m just putting them out there for anyone who wants them. I’ll choose three winners, one for each binder, from those of you who comment here by Sunday, January 10, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. CST, giving me a sentence or two describing the plot of the story you’re currently working on.

(Did you think I wasn’t going to make you work for it? *g*)

Just started some preliminary background work for my as-yet-untitled novel about a pastor and a teacher who dated years ago and who find themselves reunited after more than a decade.

Yeah, I know–who wants to read a romance novel involving a pastor?

Emilie Richards wrote a wonderful pastor story for Silhouette Intimate Moments (now Silhouette Romantic Suspense) back in the day. Wish I could remember the name of it, but it was out around 1988 or so because I remember where I was living when I read it!

There’s also Jan Karon’s Mitford books. I guess I’m just worried about being superfluous.

There’s nothing that hasn’t been done. It’s all in the execution. :)

Ack! And I read that twice! Then forgot, doggone multi-tasking ;) I think I’m a little like you as in I have my hand in many pies, but the project I am furious trying to finish is an erotic romance novella:
Boy next door returns home to find his sex widowed neighbor still lights his fire. Because of a deathbed promise to her husband he struggles with his desires, while she fights feeling like a cougar, even though she’s only a few years older than he is. Add in zoning issues for her new business adventure and requirement of his new job to heat things up.

Uh, yeah I blurb last.thing.always. lol so that’s the best I can do on the spot!

The novella with the most work on it at this point is a about a woman accidentally turned into a vampire. Unfortunately for her, his job is to exterminate unauthorized new vamps…and he’s damned good at his job.

Sorry–the blurb is the *last* thing I work on.

After looking at all I had going yesterday, I shut everything but one document. Then got nothing done because had life interferences bite me. Am going to get back to it today, though I’ve gotta admit another one is calling me, sigh.

The novella I’m currently working on (well one of them anyway) –

After Monique and Shawn Emerson signed their divorce papers, Monique never saw him again. Now he shows up five years later, claiming she’s in danger and expecting her to let him back in her life.

ok…I have a habit of jumping from my romantic suspense to my paranormals on a regular basis. I always have multiple stories in various stages going at any one time. (Actually helps me to get things done if I DON’T focus on one project exclusively!)

    Today’s novel:

Forced to pay for her grandfather’s sin, Emily didn’t know how to deal with the situation she and her cousins found themselves in–held hostage to a paranormal race of beings they’d never even known existed! Something that becomes particularly difficult for Emily, as Rydair, leader of the strange vampire clan, is utterly convinced she is his mate! Emily must keep her wits about her if she’s to escape–but that becomes more difficult with every moment that she remains in his world!

Hi Alison. I’m writing a category romance and would love some RWA tapes. (Never been to a RWA conference and those great author workshops might help me get published)

My plot involves a down to earth heroine who has sworn off men and wants nothing to do with the dating scene.

Until her housemate calls in a favour and the heroine finds herself accepting the winning prize in a national competition — a mock date with drop-dead-gorgeous date doctor — the boy who broke her teenage heart fourteen years before.

The story I’m working on right now is about a matchmaking grandmother and the hell she puts her three grandsons through finding them their “one true love”.

I would love the RWA tapes!

Hi Alison. I am working on my first ever WIP. It is about a hockey player who has a crisis of faith and the woman who helps him find redemption.

I would love the tapes as I continue to learn about this wonderful craft and world of writing. Thanks for the opportunity!

I’m working on my second novel but feel much like a beginner. I love, love, love to write. It’s like taking a vacation and going away somewhere for a while. Hope I win the tapes.
