Anyone want a copy of NO LIMITS?

Shannon Stacey is giving you an opportunity at her site so GO! It's Hotter In Hawaii by HelenKay DimonHere, however, you can comment to win a copy of HelenKay Dimon’s IT’S HOTTER IN HAWAII. All you have to do to be eligible is tell me out of all the states you’ve visited, what spot in which is your favorite. Obviously, HelenKay has a thing for Hawaii. Me, I’m pretty fond of Texas, though there’s a coastal city in Oregon called Depoe Bay that I visited several times as a child and adored – probably because of the taffy – but it stuck with me enough that I used it as the setting in Beyond A Shadow. Not sure it’s my favorite place ever, though next to Texas, I will say I love Oregon the best. Anyhow, leave a comment here by Friday, May 1, 2009, 8:00 p.m.ish CDT to be eligible to win. I’d throw in a copy of Beyond A Shadow, too, but realized this weekend I only have one left. Instead, I’ll throw in a copy of NO LIMITS. I posted links to several reviews on Monday at GenReality, but here’s another from Stephanie’s Ramblings!

The Bananarama

I have 3 bad bananas. Anyone got a link to a good muffin or bread or other recipe?

I tweeted that on Saturday, and got some great links from Charlene Teglia, C.J. Redwine, Laurie Damron, M.G. Braden, as well as a very yummy looking recipe emailed from Toni McGee Causey. Too bad I didn’t have like a gazillion bad bananas to try everything. Anyhow, here’s the recipe the husband ended up selecting, and I think this was one I found following a link away from a link given to me!

1/2 c margarine
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c mashed ripe banana
2 c flour
1 t baking soda
350 degrees for an hour

BUT, he didn’t stop there. He switched the margarine for butter since that’s what we use instead, and added 1/4 c brown sugar, and a 1/2 t each of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. He said afterwards he should’ve added a pinch of salt, but it was yum, and yeah. That one slice is all that’s left, though even that won’t be there much longer.

Question, though. How does one measure mashed bananas? Should they be packed like brown sugar, or plopped to let settle, more like flour? I had three large bananas, and they probably mashed closer to 1 2/3 c, and the husband said that was a bit too much goo. Still, the balance of sweetness was perfect, and the bread not too heavy or dense.

Also, I’m blogging today at GenReality about the HELL I went through writing NO LIMITS. It releases officially tomorrow, you know!

The excitement for the day!

Deep Breath by Alison Kent

Cover flats for my November mass market reissue of Deep Breath have arrived! This is my first widely available mass market release. The At Risk/In Danger/Deep Trouble books from last summer were Wal-Mart exclusives, but this one will be everywhere. It’s not on BN yet, but is already up for pre-order on Amazon, whoo-hoo, as is my December Brava, WITH EXTREME PLEASURE! I do have the cover for that one, too (hubba hubba) but will wait awhile before posting it. Gotta tease, ya know!

Beyond a Japanese Shadow

Every once in awhile, I’ll pop over to Amazon Germany and Amazon Japan to see if any more of my Brava books are being reissued. I lucked out today and found this one! I think this is the tiniest I’ve ever seen my name on a cover. You have to squint to see it between the H and the D of shadow. The original cover of BEYOND A SHADOW had a blonde heroine, and Alexa is a brunette. Not sure I pictured her looking like this, though I think it’s a very cool cover! Best I can tell, since I do NOT read Japanese, this came out this month. Hope I get copies! I’ve had four Blazes published in Japan, and now six Bravas. The Blaze covers all have the same cover art as those here, but the Bravas are different, and are published as tiny paperbacks with their own cute little dustjackets.

Artful Balance for Creative People

Barbara Samuel posted about this, and I thought I’d share the information here; since she covered it all so well, I’ll just copy some of what she said. *g*

For a couple of months, we’ve been working behind the scenes to create a gathering place that’s joyful, supportive, and energizing. ARTFUL BALANCE is a forum to help nurture the arty side of our lives, and be mindful in the pursuit of a writing (or whatever your art is–cooking counts, photography, painting, whatever). The forum model seems to be the best idea, both to spread out moderating duties and keep out spammers, etc. You’ll have to register in order to participate, but it’s easy.

One Good Man cover shoot!

Last night, Nightline ran it’s segment on Harlequin and their 60th anniversary. I asked #1 daughter to record it as I was beat and didn’t want to stay up. First thing this morning, I get emails and Tweets and texts telling me the cover shoot for my September Blaze, ONE GOOD MAN, was featured. I took a screenshot of the vid!

What a way to see your cover for the first time, eh? *g* The whole article was pretty positive. Even the celebs reading from the books were fun. The book from which Paul Rudd read was published in the fifties. You can see the whole segment at this link, but for the time being, it’s also on YouTube (though will no doubt be pulled soon, heh).

Where in the blogging world is Alison Kent?

Due to several reasons – carpal tunnel being a big one – I haven’t been spending much time at the computer lately. I Twitter using Twitterberry on my phone. I write my blog posts for Blaze Authors and Access Romance and GenReality on my Alphasmart, usually from the backyard. I’ve been cleaning house, and playing Wii Fit, and babysitting Sam (who today turns two years old), and watching TV, and since the husband has been working from home a lot over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been running around doing errands and such with him. There are days I only sit down at the computer once to check my business email. Lately, I’m barely keeping up with what’s going on in romancelandia, and though I’m probably missing out on some good stuff, I’m okay with it. So here’s my question about blogging. My more thoughtful posts these days have been at the three places mentioned above. I try to always link to them here so you can come visit and read if you’re so inclined. And that’s what I’m curious about. Are you so inclined? Do you follow me around the web to the blogs where I’m posting? I hate that I haven’t posted here, but honestly, if I hadn’t committed at those other locations, I probably wouldn’t be blogging at all right now. I know there’s some burn out involved, but I’ve also got this down time where I don’t have to stay virtually caught up in the industry. I do have a book coming out here in a couple of weeks that I need to do some promo on, but since I write by hand on or my Alphasmart primarily, I just haven’t felt compelled to spend time online. I’ll get back to it soon enough, the blogging here regularly, but for now, is my blogging elsewhere enough for you?
