UPDATE on THE MARK giveaway: I’m going to run the contest through Sunday evening, Aug. 5, 8:00 p.m.ish, CDT. AND I’ll be giving away TWO copies. Er, I’ll be giving away one, and Jason will be giving away one that is autographed! What a guy, eh?! So, if you’re in the mood for a fab thriller, post a comment and your name might be drawn!
*******
I thought all of you sweaty challengers might like to see what went out in Jo Leigh’s Sunday gift box. Larissa gave away another great gift package the next week, as did HelenKay the week following. I think Stephanie has this upcoming’s Sunday’s motivational prize, and then mine follows.
Gotta get on that . . .
Speaking of prizes for writing, how about publication? The Brava Novella Contest is officially open for submissions! And then there’s Gather’s First Chapters Romance Writing Competition.
How ’bout I give away a book to a reader who doesn’t care so much about all the writing posts that have been going on lately?
Right as I’m about to die, I realize all the myths are fake. There’s no white light at the end of a tunnel. My life isn’t flashing before my eyes.
All I can think about is how much I want to live.
I moved to New York City a month ago to become the best journalist the world had ever seen.
To find the greatest stories never told. And now here I am—Henry Parker, twenty-four years old and weary beyond rational thought, a bullet one trigger pull from ending my life.
I can’t run. Running is all Amanda and I have done for the past seventy-two hours. And I’m tired. Tired of knowing the truth and not being able to tell it.
Five minutes ago I thought I had the story all figured out.
I knew that both of these men—one an FBI agent, the other an assassin—wanted me dead, but for very different reasons.
If I die tonight—more people will die tomorrow.
Somehow I ended up with two copies of THE MARK (you’re welcome, Jason) and I read one of them last month leaving me with the second to give to one of you! If I wasn’t so tired, I’d offer you a mini-review. (I’m just back from the dog park with Snickers and daughter #1, and it’s August in Houston, need I say more.)
I will say that I sucked down this book in just a couple of days. Jason did a fantastic job putting the reader in the city and into Henry Parker’s head. AND, the best part, the suspense pay-off is awesome. I read a lot of suspense and can’t tell you how many denouements have totally let me down recently. Not this one. I sent up a cheer when I was finished reading. Sticking through to the end was worth every word.
So, if you’d like to read THE MARK, just post a comment here and tell me so! I’ll pick a name around noon, CDT, Friday, 8/3.

The excerpt sounds wonderful, and I’m tense already! I’d love to have a copy to read and review, so I’d be so grateful if you’d put me in the hat to win a copy; I’ve been so busy writing lately I haven’t taken near enough time off for exploring other people’s worlds.
