I am inspired! This is just the thing I needed to make me work… :)
So, are we ’sweaters’ or woolly jumpers?

Thanks for the challenge! Jo Leigh already stopped by and commiserated with me over the accidental deletion of 40,000 words….Thanks for the pep talk Jo Leigh. I started on the challenge today, but it’s a little slow, my muse is not cooperating…Gonna give her a good swift kick tomorrow…ooooooo, maybe I should talk nice…What do you think? Nice or naughty?
Thanks Ladies! I love being a part of all this!

Yes, thank you for doing this, Alison! This challenge is exactly the kick in the butt I’ve needed. :)

Oh yeah, Thank you Alison! I am pumped.

Love the challenge so far. Also, wondering if anyone else is doing sports themed stories or incorporating it a little so maybe we can help share ideas.

My own meager offering is for new and/or unpublished authors and addresses “How much do you want it?”. It’s at http://www.jessicatudor.com/?p=45

This is awesome! Like others, this was the kick to the ass I needed to get my going and focused again. Still sweating on day three!

My motivation wavered a little in this heat, but I re-centered, modified my goals, and am back to writing like the wind.
Thanks so much for this, Alison!

I was so motivated yesterday. I wrote and wrote and wrote. I’m slapping my head now because I didn’t back up my work. After a bad Florida lightning storm yesterday afternoon, I came home to a dead computer. At least I have most everything on a flash drive. But I lost 2 days of heavy word count. I’ll get back on track after I pick up my new computer at Office Depot this afternoon. Live and learn.

Oh no, Dara! I’m so sorry for that. Is it permanently dead, do you know?
Comment
Oh, Dara, hugs!

I’ve had such a productive three days with this challenge! I’ve entered day four up a total of 8845 words
I’m doing a daily update, but starting Sunday, I’ll go to weekly updates and talking about writing and process, etc. (www.laurendane.com/blog)

My total for the challenge is 4409. Not where I want to be, but I’m plodding along! Congrats to those who are kicking butt and for those who are struggling…you are gonna do great!
Comment
I’m up to 3200 words, starting off slowly (isn’t that who usually ends up winning the race, the slow starters? Go us turtles!) but I’ll make up speed during the 11-14th (I’m not at conference).
Plus, and I know there are no excuses here, but I live in the Pacific Northwest, and it’s currently 100 degrees outside. WE DON’T HAVE AIR CONDITIONING HERE. I think that’s enough said.
Good luck everyone!

That’s not an excuse – gosh, Erin, having the computer on all day writing in heat like that? Not good for computers OR people. But you could always do long-hand. ;) I hope it cools down and you can add some serious wordage. :)

This has been so helpful. Thanks for the hard work and especially your time.

I am getting a late start, but I am still in, okay? My back decided that I should not sit at a computer or anywhere else for the last 4 days. You’d think I would have a plot by now.. *ahem* – not.

Alison, I meant to sign up for your challenge when Walt first pointed it out to me. However, I hope that you won’t mind, I’m modifying it somewhat…
Instead of writing a book I’m going to write a series of comicbook scripts (because — well, that’s what I do — write comicbook scripts). Anyway, my scripts for an 8-page story run between 2,500 and 3,700 words, so I figure that if I write a script a week for the 10 weeks that between 25 and 37,000 words that would count. Yeah, yeah I know that it is less than the numbers that you crunched at the beginning of this challenge, but I know that I can get all 10 scripts published, and I don’t know that I can get a single book published, so I figure that has to count.
So, well, if this works for you, than it works for me and I’m already off and running (just finished off my first script and am already on the second).

The cut-off date applies for all prizes to be awarded. The date was posted in the link above that has the note about RULES. EVERYONE can of course still play along and write their sweaty fingers to the bone for the support and camararderie (even comic book folk!!! yay!!!), but prize awards only go to those who signed up following the directions (both steps were clearly spelled out) in the original post!

I’m fairly Internet illiterate, so I’m not sure where I’m supposed to post my word count for 7/15??? Anyway, I’m up to 6928.
