As of Monday, April 23, my sister’s doctor has released her to go back to full duty! Two and a half years after her, uh, accident . . .
You say you weren’t a reader of my blog then? Below is my post from October 20, 2004. This link is a message board that quotes several articles. (The pic is my sis and brother from Christmas a few years ago.)
A Frisco police officer
is critically wounded and a wanted man is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following a seven-hour standoff Tuesday in Sherman.
My sister is the officer, not the murder suspect or the murdered girl. She’s going to be fine, had surgery yesterday, is resting well today. (And I’ve already told her I will be using her for research in the future, LOL!)
Update: A second surgery tonight to make sure there was no shrapnel in her abdomen, etc. She was helicoptered down to a Dallas hospital. Seems it was pretty damn bad after all. I didn’t find out until today that she was actually shot with a hunting rifle, and it exploded into her femur and pelvic bone. I see a LOT of HUGE therapy in her future, but she’s a STRONG woman! A credit to her uniform!!!

I don’t think I was reading your blog back then, so this is news to me. I’m glad she’ll be back on the force, if that’s what she wants. Yay on her recovery!

Best wishes to your sister and congrats on the recovery. This is great news! God bless your sister and all men and women doning the uniform.

I remember this and have thought of your sister often since then – so happy to hear that she’s fully recovered and headed back to work. Does she have any qualms or reservations about going back? I think I would be a tad hesitant, but then I’m not made of strong enough stuff to do that job in the first place. Bless her.

I wasn’t reading blogs at all back then so I had no idea this happened to your sister. I’m thrilled to learn of her recovery! Those who wear the uniform are unfortunately so often taken for granted. :(

I didn’t have my computer then so I didn’t read your blog. It makes me realize how different my life is with a computer.
